Nz model 2004 Jimny Gen3/JB43 M13a non-vvt with Automatic transmission.
Is used as a farm vehicle, and handbrake is non-functional, so can't use that.

Problem I have is I cannot shift the transmission selector lever to park.
I can select all other gears, and they all appear to be working correctly.

Anyone got any ideas on what I should be checking and where?

I was thinking it could be the shift lock solenoid? But I don't know where to find it.
Or possibly a fuse?

I haven't had time to look or check anything yet, but will try tomorrow.

The shift lock solenoid is at the base of the shift lever, you will need to investigate why it's not being energized - it's unlikely to have it's own fuse.

On an SN413 it's powered by the turn/back fuse, I don't know if that holds true for the JB43

Do the brake lights work? The brake light switch also forms part of the gearbox control circuits.

If the problem is that you can't shift INTO park, then I would see it being the shift mechanism and not the brake interlock solenoid. A mechanical problem (worn or blocked or bent part) and not an electrical one.

Can't shift OUT of park, that is probably the lock solenoid. But it does not sound like that is the problem here.
