Use whichever head suits. I used the 1.3 because it was already out of the car. I had it skimmed before I started work on getting the 1.6 apart so it made doing the whole job much quicker.
You can choose which crank pulley you use and the power steering belt length varies accordingly. The alternator side of the pulley should be the same. I find the Liana pulley makes the steering slightly lighter at idle which is helpful for all my trailer work.
