Any way to make the steering quicker? was created by Vandoni
I really love my Jimny, it's an incredible car and a decent driver too, but the steering is just so slow and clunky, I'm starting to race in shifter karts and also have a BMW z3 and the difference is astounding, I understand now that I like quicker steering, no matter how heacy it is. Any way to make the little Jimny's steering faster?

I would think the easiest and quickest option would be to buy a totally different car that has quicker steering....

To add... I'm not saying there isn't a way. But its a bit like asking how can you increase the suspension flex on your Z3 so that you can take it off road.

It would require replacement of the steering box, which is probably not that difficult to do once you have located a suitable replacement with "faster" gearing.

So It isn't possible to modify the stock box or linkage system?
Another idea was to simply reproduce something like my kart's steering on the car, but that would come with some hefty tradeoffs I think.
Does removing the power steering belt cause problems to the other pulleys? By that I mean, do they get "unbalanced"? A friend of mine was doing stuff to his car (not a Zook) and without that belt the crank pulley started acting up.

A longer arm on the steering box would do it. I'm not sure how you'd go about getting one though.

The problem with making the steering faster is that it would work against you when you go off road. By that I mean it would tend to spin the steering wheel a lot harder when a tyre catches on a rock or stump or whatever and it would also magnify the torque back into the steering wheel too. This would make it very easy to snap your thumb off when you forget and leave it inside the rim of the steering wheel. That's assuming it doesn't snap your arm. As I remember you have said you are or intended to go rally raiding in your jimny so off road at speed is only going to make the kickback worse. The steering is slow for a good reason.

Fake it with a smaller steering wheel

You're not wrong now that I think about it, I might just get a smaller steering wheel and limit myself to that

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Get a smaller wheel and fit a "spinner knob" to it like on a forklift (or a traction engine...)
Probably illegal to use it on the road though, unless you are disabled.
