Hi all,

I’ve pretty much finished my Jimny rebuild project which involved rebuilding a rolled 2005 Auto Jimny by canibalising a rolled and unrepairable 2012 manual Jimny. Unfortunately I’m have issues with auto trans on the 05 and are contemplating a manual swap using the 2012 drivetrain. 2 Questions if anyone can help… 1. Are the diff head ratios the same on both vehicles? (I’m thinking not) and 2. Are the transfer case ratios the Same? Any knowledge on this would be much appreciated! Cheers!

Transfer case ratios are way different.
Diff ratios also to make up for the the other ratios.

Unless you plan to change tyre size you should keep all from either manual or auto.

Thanks for that! very much appreciated. this is a great website. Makes sense although I wonder if I just replace gear box and see what sort of ratios I get then go from there? ie then change transfer box then diffs if required. Just a thought as I have everything required...

If the 2005 is also a VVT then diff ratios will be the same but the auto transfer case will be 30% lower than the 2012 manual one.
