CEL and rough idle was created by Bennyb7
Hi friends,
has anyone with a K6a jimny experienced the following:
On starting, the engine runs smoothly around 1500rpm. Then, after about 2 seconds the engine shutters, bogs down to 600rpm, a check engine light illuminates, then it immediately corrects to a rough idle around 1300rpm with the check engine light remaining on.
I know its a long shot but im hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
thanks for reading!

The check engine light will point you in the right direction - get the code(s) read.

It's a 1996 and I can't find a code reader that can communicate with it. Do you have any suggestions for code readers?

Alternatively in the wiki section are instructions on how to get a flash code by bridging the pins on the port.

First off, thank you immensely for the reply. I read through the wiki and it was helpful. My understanding so far is that I need to
1) buy transponder (will have to research unless you can reccomend one)
2) download that kind russian programmers app
3) bridge the diag fuse or two pins on the OBD connector
4) enjoy having some diagnostics displayed in the app
Am I missing anything important?
