Head unit recommendations for gen 3, 2006 was created by robs5230
Hi
Looking for some recommendations for an aftermarket head unit, without CD player, from anyone who's fitted one.
Don't want anything too flash and also not wanting a big hole in the dash, if the aftermarket unit is smaller than the Clarion OE unit, so any tips welcome
Thanks

You can get a mechless for next to nothing these days all the brands have them it's just a matter of picking your aesthetic favourite. As for the dashboard you can get a new facia from the post 2013 face lift which gives you a proper double din hole to fit the new one and one of the single pockets.

You buy the double din fascia and add a single din pocket, leaving a single din gap for the headunit.

This was my set up
www.bigjimny.com/media/kunena/attachments/27291/IMG_6398.jpg
I bought a Xtrons Double DIN head unit made especially for the Jimny with rounded corners, sadly it is no longer sold It gave me DAB, Music Player, Sat Nav, Hands free, front and rear cameras, etc.
Most double DIN have square corners so you have to either get a replacement facia or get the Dremel out.
Unless you want to do what Lambert did and fit a single DIN and a tray.
