Hi, just a quick one. The rad fan on my 2007 is not working correctly. Not sure how long it has been this way, never had an overheat problem in the last 6 years, but when pulling the trailer up hills the other day (motorway), temp climbed quite high, then dropped when not having to work as hard. Fan spins freely when engine is cold and hot, so assuming the coupling is seized and not adjusting to the heat? Can this be replaced without removing the radiator itself?
Cheers

Yes. I took the fan off mine when I changed the fan belt pulley, it needs a bit of a jiggle to get the cowling off but it is fairly straight forward. I think there might be a guide somewhere, possibly on BigJimny.
To be honest the radiator is very to take out once the fan is off, it's just drain it (plug at the bottom), remove top and bottom pipes (the hardest part) then it's held in on 2 or 3 bolts. Depending on how good you are removing the self tensioning hose clips it's just a few minutes work.

Thanks. Can you remember if the bolts were on the back of the fan? Forgot to look yesterday. Also - radio now fitted and working well thanks!

I can't remember to be honest, it was about 3 years ago.
I am glad the radio is fitted and working well, any problems or Qs, you know where I am.

It is possible to split the fan clutch and top off the silicon oil. It's the same as used in radio control models suspension I think I used 1000 spec.

Just an update. Managed to get the fan off (4 bolts). Split the clutch and replaced the oil. Seems to work fine (quite a bit of motorway and a couple of lanes), but will know for definite when towing the trailer round Wales and it is under load.
