G3 Slam Panel is it structural? was created by oldgazzer
Removed my bumper and I have a few rust issues with the slam panel underneath the headlights . In two minds namely should I patch or should I replace the slam panel.
Is the slam panel structural?
The reason why I ask is I would prefer to fix it in place with a structural adhesive and a few well placed bolts secured with spring washers and nyloc nuts.

It's structural in the place that normally rots, that's the chassis front to body (slam panel) mounting point. It's a body to chassis mounting poinot that's under the headlamps. It's easier in my opinion to just replace the complete panel if you wallet can cope. Normally it's difficult for a tester to see this area, it's well hidden, but by the time you can see rot under your headlights the mount below is a crumbling mess.
