Engine light on and cutting out when decelerating

Hello,
I've got a 2005 Jimny that yesterday cut out whilst I was idling and the engine light came on. I drove home and it continued to cut out each time I had my foot off the gas and was decelerating.
I took it to the garage this morning but the engine light was off and it drove with no issues - they ran diagnostics and a fault came up with the throttle - but as there were no issues (not cutting out and no engine light on) they couldn't be certain.
I drove my car home and it was fine until I was parking and the engine light came back on and the engine cut out.

Has anyone experienced anything like this and could suggest a fix? A new throttle is expensive and I don't want to order this part if it's not going to fix it. I'll drive it around a little longer and bring back to the garage when its cutting out so they can see the issue.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

If it's consistent with decelleration, there's a strong possibility it could be related to the EGR valve not closing completely - the EGR valve opens under certain conditions to allow exhaust gasses to be drawn into the intake (recirculated) to reduce certain emissions - amongst the conditions for it to open is the engine has to be up to operating temperature, and either at cruise or decellerating, the valve needs to close as the vehicle comes to a stop, and if it doesn't the engine stalls.

If the garage you went to was close to home, the engine may not have been warm enough, so the plan on driving it around a little longer might work.
