Hi guys, I have a 2002 Gen 3 Jimny. I have Thule roof bars and bike rack from a previous car and tried to install them using the Thule 710410 foot pack for a raised rail which the Jimny does have. Upon installation, however, it doesn't seem to be the correct fit.I am just wondering what roof bars you are using, and does anyone have any suggestions? Would like to stick with Thule as I have the bars and two bike racks already.Kind regards, Darragh

Fairly sure I had the foot pack for a normal rail clear of the roof, with no.problems.
Mine were older and, I think, model 757. It may be that 7104 (which superseded 757) had a design change that's Jimny-unfriendly.

I bought a fairly cheap set of bars for my Jimny, they fit fine, not sure how strong they are, but the Jimny roof has a very low load capacity so it didn’t really warrant going for anything substantial.

I had a look at some YouTube videos of them fitting to other rails and they all seem to have a slight gap. Next issue now is the 30kg weigh capacity! I don't fancy putting on two mountain bikes on the roof and risking them coming off! Might have to get a tow bar rack on it

I made some custom stainless cross bars that replace the factory plastic ones. While I am conscious of the weight limit I am also much less concerned now that the bars are directly bolted to the roof. I previously had a pair of bars for a BMW 1 series amongst other fitments as the feet near enough matched the studs in the roof. The other thing is that with just cross bars I am maximising the available load capacity by having the minimum structure.

30kg load is about what Suzuki specify and that includes the bars or rack. The rail ends are plastic to make sure you don’t overload the roof.
If you swap these for brackets like Lambert then you could carry more, but I think Suzuki didn’t want any more weight up there in case it causes stability issues.
A tow bar rack would be best, except the spare wheel often gets in the way.
