I am trying to connect a rear cabin light per wiki:
www.bigjimny.com/mediawiki/index.php/Rea...in_lamp_installation
Annoyingly I mistook an unused 2-pin connector (photograph below) for the one that a light harness can go into and bought all the kit! A little money wasted but it has left me wondering, what is that even for?
The wiki mentions the 4-pin one (for rear speakers), the 3-pin one (for rear cabin light) but I haven't seen what this 2-pin guy is about. Anyone know?

A chap here asking virtually the same question 10 years ago:

Really, I am wondering if I could use this 2-pin for constant power... I would go have a play with a multimeter but I've not got one

Is it a solid green wire
It could be for fog light on left hand drive model
On rhd model the green wire and black are for fog light connector found on driver side rear

Ah! I think you might be right. Mine is an 2005 RHD.
With respect to my rear cabin light I ended up just building my own harness to piggyback the front, exactly like in this video:
