Sound deadening of the engine bay only was created by knownothoworwhy
Hi guys,
The problem:
I've a problem when offroading - the frequent onset of the engine cooling system.
Original cooling liquid is topped off,
Original air intake filter, changed out - just to be on the safe side.
Background:
I offroad, to photograph and film wildlife.
The frequent and prominent sound of the engine cooling system. I have a feeling it originates from two possible sources: (1) fan-blades cutting the air, (2) cooling pump action.
I'm pretty sure that the 1st source can be improved on (better efficiency - both in cutting the air and cooling the radiator pipes (i.e., cooling efficiency), by swapping the original fan with a 6 blade fan with a better profile.
I'm not sure if there is an after market cooling pump which is quieter than the original, while doing the same job, with the same or better efficiency.
-If anyone tackled this problem and tried some possible solutions, please share.

The cooling pump runs all the time. Presuming you have a gen 4 Jimny the sound will most likely be coming from the electric cooling fan, however it could also be the air conditioning fan. The simple solution there is to switch off the air conditioning.

lt's true that the aircon fan is very loud on the Gen 4 Jimny, although you can't hear it much inside the vehicle it might scare off any wildlife you were hoping to track.

If it's an intermittent sound on the Gen4, it's probably the air-con. If you turn the air-con off it will stop.
