G13BB ECU not rachable.. was created by Markiemark
Hi goodmorning everybody,
After a complete renovation I wanted to testride it and this popped up…
High idle, even with a warm engine…Before the renovation all seemed ok, 4 months ago.
(Engine was taken out, for installing a new clutch, and a head renovation, and a body restauration)
I tried several times to put a scanner on my obd2 port, without succes.
Noticed that the port has 3 wires; no 6 (ground) no 9 (data) and no 12 (hot 12v)
The 12v and ground tested positively!
Tried to put a paperclip in the sockets; all slightly accessible.
So I’m afraid another ecu will be needed for reading my problem with high idling (2100rpm)
Found this cause yesterday; a stuck iac valve! ….hopefully?…
3 questions;
a) Is this normal; the 3 wire obd2 socket? Or am I missing one or more wires?….(the car was riding ok, untill the high rpm cause last week occured)
b) Noticed that China (Aliexpress) offers iac’s for around 25 euros; has anyone tried these? Are these reliable?
c) When a ecu swap job is following; where to look for! Since mine is a softtop model etc. No key chip. Are there more models useable?
well: enough for this morning.. and; is it possible to get an email alert for reactions on this forum?
Cheers!

Early Jimny's were not fitted with OBD-II even though they had the same connector, but only 3 -wires, 5 GND, 9 Data, 12 +12v. I think they might have been OBD-I but Suzuki might have used their own protocol.
Apparently there is a method detailed in the handbook of using a paper clip in a connector to trigger a diagnostic mode, the fault code is sent by flashing the Check Engine Light.
Someone on here or a Google search will be able to confirm, sorry it is before my time with Jimny's and ODB to know for sure.

See
www.rhinopower.org/
for the connections on older cars
P.S I had to turn off notifications because it was possible for hackers to interfere with the process and use it for spam email using the BigJimny website address

Tried to find the diagnostic socket as mentioned, but can’t find it. It says behind the glovebox, there are some empty sockets but no 6 wired one…
Anyone please?
