I've read through all the information I can find regarding extending the diff breathers.
I've managed to do both diffs and the tight transfer case breather.
Now all the info regarding the gearbox breather refers to the manual which is super accessible in the engine bay.
Does the auto just not have one?

The TW40 in the Gen 3 is a sealed transmission. I believe it's the same auto in the Gen 4

I started out with nothing & still have most of it left

Sorry to bring this topic back, but I'm about to extend breathers in my JB74 as well... has anyone confirmed that the auto JB74 does not have a gearbox breather?? Only 3 breathers to extend?

Also, has anyone moved the breathers further up than the engine bay, through the snorkel?

My previous reply was based on a relatively longstanding "truth" from another forum. I have since come across additional pictures of a Gen3 auto (TW40) showing a breather at the rear of the transmission. I still believe it is the same transmission on the Gen4. Attached are the pictures.

I apologize for the earlier misinformation.

So what you are saying there is that the late gen3 auto box will cope with a small increase in power and a simultaneous small increase in tyre size?

Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

I would be very surprised if the auto did not have some sort of breather as although ATF is not supposed to froth, there will be an increase in air pressure due to heat and that needs to be dealt with. The picture shows a feature that looks like a breather and is where I would expect a breather to be, so maybe!!!

As to where to exit the breather, I took mine high up in the engine compartment and capped it with a small motorcycle fuel filter.
