Hi
ok so you can get a Greddy Turbo kit or Rotrex supercharger for your Jimny, yeah I really like the idea and have spoken to several performance specialists, who all tell me they couldnt fit either as they wouldnt be able to remap the Ecu .Can anyone give me any advice, I have uprated my exhaust and air intake but the Jimny is still very flat at the top end . Seems very difficult to get any kind of power upgtage in the UK other than a remap which will give you 10bhp and 11nm for around 300 quid , I dont think it would be noticible.
Regards Cam

Hi Cam,
I totally admire those that want to improve the Jimny Engine performance, and I am not saying it can't be done, but you are entering a money pit with very limited returns. I must be one of the harder engines to modify, simply as you cant easily change the mapping etc, and experience in doing such work on this engine is very limited.
Most go for the "bigger engine" approach to gain more performance.
Some nice work done on here by a few that have resulted in (actual dyno, not feel) improvements, but it tends to be a lot of work beyond most home mechanics.
Not trying to be a fun sponge, just what I have seen.
Good luck and have fun
Mike

l would say the Jimny would struggle to put that amount of power down without wheel spinning like a radio controlled toy.
You'd have to have it in 4wd which would generate further issues with transmission wind-up.

The company in Aus that fits the Rotrex charger fits a piggyback ECU rather than remapping the factory ECU - although I believe they're working on custom maps for the stock ECU as well.
