Hi Jimny brothers and sisters,

After a drive and walking away from the Jimny, there is a strange buzz/whine/whistle high pitched noise that runs for a minute or so after shutting off the engine. Anyone else noticed this?

It's something I've noticed since owning the Gen4 over the last year. It's definitely engine bay sourced.

Ideas? Or is it a fault??!!

Cheers, Mike

Hi,
Idea only - electric cooling fan?

This assumes the G4 is electric fan. My VW would keep it running sometimes.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

My Triumph Tiger has an electronic shutdown noise, but on this it's the throttle body stepper motor going to rest position, it controls idle when the engine is running. Possible the G4 has similar?

Just behind the washer bottle you will see an aluminium block with lots of pipes. This, I believe, is part of the braking system and is where the sound comes from. as Soeley said, it's just the system shutting down.

Thanks Soeley. Nice to know it's not just my one.

It's definitely not the fan Scimike. It's a really subtle squealing noise. I was thinking it might be the abs pump continuing after shutdown, or some sort of purging for emissions reasons.

And another mystery to solve: what is the trapezoid shaped canister hanging off the air intake for?
