Recovery points was created by Bigchridy
I'm after some sort of recovery points for the Jimny. Just wondering what other people have fitted to their trucks. Eventually I will be getting a front winch bumper and hd rear bumper but for now I'm keeping the standard bumpers. I will be off roading the truck with the standard bumpers so will need some way of been recovered. I've seen weld on tabs which look ok but I'm not sure where is the best place to weld them!

I'd seen that one in the shop but I'm unsure where and how it mounts.darthloachie wrote: Martin does this rear one

just bolts around the chassis and points down so tow ropes do not contact the original bumper. they will serve you well and they are cheap really

For the front i use the standard points but use a bridle across them to halve the load that each one sees. I dont use the hole you can see either, theres a bigger one higher up which means i can use beefier shackles, the only problem is that if your not recovered level it pulls on the bumper and gave mine droopy look(after a recent "issue" with the rear of a disco its not a big issue for me) and you need to put the strap on before you set off as they're a nightmare to get to when your stuck!
If you look up a thread on difflock by lifechooser it shows the best solution i've seen by far - they come from japan though so will cost £££'s

I have been trying to sort a front one out forever.
I have not got a standad Jimny so the front is different so I cannot use mine as a template. I need someone local to Reading with a STANDARD Jimny (standard bumper) fitted so I can take some measurements and then build and fit a prototype etc. So it will need some trips to me in Reading on a couple of occasions. The benefit is that you will end up with a front recovery point (or two if we create both a left and right one)

I cut the shape of the passenger side one out in a piece of cardboard and got a welder to weld a thick piece of sheet steel cut to that shape alongside the original welding it to the chassis and where the sheet and the original met all the way round to beef up that original.
It cost buttons and works brill. You can't do the same on the other side as there is not room with the steering box bolts in the way.
At least you have one good one though.
