Engine light started showing after the battery was emptied this winter. Bought a new battery since the old was...old.
Is there an easy way of resetting the engine light?

usually taking the battery + connection off and leave it for about 30 mins to totally discharge, refit and off you go.

If the light is still on then you need to get a code reader to find out why ;-)

With the engine running use a voltmeter to check the battery voltage. You are looking for 14.5V

If you are talking about the fault light ("check engine") then this should automatically clear on the second start after the detected fault has been rectified

Dont you want to know why the light is on?

It is a warning light, meaning the engine ECU is trying to tell you something. If the light has not gone off by now, something is happening that the ECU isnt happy with.

Why did you change the battery? Did you have the charging system checked 1st?

If you changed the battery because it looked old can we assume you now own a new Jimny because there are loads on here that will make your '04 plate Jimny look old too. LOL!

I changed the lambda sensor in the mainifold (£65 from SparkPlugs UK) as I was getting increasingly fed up with dico'ing the battery.

That fixed it for me :)
