No matter what. I can only recommend getting a suspension lift from a well known brand like Old Man Emu, Tough Dog, Dobinsons, Terrain Tamer, Trail Master and such. That way you get a suspension lift that's made specifically for the Jimny and often in 2 or 3 configurations depending on how much load you intend to drive around with.

I think what Busta means by "most lift kits" are those kits sold very cheap with springs of unknown brand and rating and shocks of unknown US origin.

TomDK, I'm looking at getting the Trailmaster 3" lift after the new year, and noticed in your signature at the bottom of your posts the following: +2" Trail Master springs (They call it 3" lift).

What is the story here, is the sag due to your winches and steel bumpers, or is it an issue with the trailmaster design?

I'd say. Don't do it :)

The springs are excellent. But I've come to the conclusion that perhaps they're a bit too hard.
Thing is. These 3" diesel springs are exactly the same length as the TM 2" diesel lift springs. But made from thicker rod. 13mm compared to 12mm rod 2" diesel springs are made of.

Also, TM only makes 3" springs. Not shocks that match them. Which is one of the reasons why I chose Bilstein shocks.

So unless your Jimny is a diesel and fitted with winchbumper and heavy winch, I'd say go for the 2" diesel springs instead.

When it comes to the quality of the springs, they excellent. Now after 2 years of offroading, they haven't sagged a bit. Still at the same length as new.

Does TM do petrol springs in a narrower guage rod?

Hi TomDK,

I am just saving up for the 2" Trailmaster lift (Petrol Comfort), and saw your "Don't do it :)". Was that specifically for the setup you have with the diesel springs, or have you found the Trailmaster very hard generally?I have heard good things elsewhere about them, so was preparing the extra cash! Always good to hear more opinions :)

Thanks

Nick
