Thanks Rhinoman, I saw ethylene glycol in the manual but didn't state whether to use silicate, oat or phosphate based.

FOzzie I'm glad your jim is fit for winter.

I flushed the system today 5 times before it became clear water so gave it one more then finally with De ionised water.

The coolant hadn't been done for at least 3 years according to service receipts. Glad it's done now.
