As above really has anyone done a electric cooling fan conversion. I think it's a really good modification to do away with the viscous fan, with a three way switch. On, off and normal working of a temperature sensor. On for when you no your going to be giving it 100% up a hill or stuck in mud, off for when your going to do a water crossing.
So has anyone done it? What parts did you use and haw did it work out. Or just people's thoughts? Knowledge of any kits available?

Replied by horam_jimny on topic has anyone done a electric cooling fan conversion?
I thought about one of these but decided against it for two main reasons.

If you forget to turn it off when entering deep water theres a good chance you'll knacker it as it struggles against the resistance of the water

More electrical stuff to go wrong especially if its getting submerged reguarly

The plus points of less resistance when driving normally so a possible increase in MPG would not off set the cost of it anyway.

The Jimny was designed to have the fan spinning constantly so you may find the engine temp fluctuates more as there will not always be that constant cooling effact which MAY cause issues.

I've got an electric fan on one of my Jimnys, it works a treat. There's no fluctuation in temperature, the engine warms up and stays constant no matter what. The one I have bolts on the engine-side of the radiator and pulls cold air through it.

That's good to hear Mick C. I would need a engine side mounted one as well because I have a winch. I'm not really to bothered about mpg gains, I just don't like the way the viscous slows down the engine when wading.

I did it and i love it! Should have done it earlier!

More room for my winch up front!
