Tried 4x4 mode on off road today, appears to work but light on dash flashes which I read in the manual means it isn't working, but I think it does work (does that make sense?)

Also - noticed on front wheels has a little switch from 2 to 4 wheel drive on each side - do I need to switch these on too?

Any thoughts?

You have manual free wheeling hubs thats why the light flashes you have to turn then to 4x4 then select 4wd on you tranferbox

It may well flash, you need to block off the vacuum pipe, have a look through the technical articles for the details

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Just took some pics - looks like cable has been cut and filled

And on a different subject - this didn't look good either

it might be the filling of the pipes is passing causing the light to flash but if you had manual hubs fitted i wouldnt bother about the flashing light, mine flashes with the manual hubs,

also your problem with the oil is your king pin bearings are gone and need replacing,

you need this

www.test.bigjimny.com/store/index.php?_a=product&product_id=6

and this is how you do it,

So it's not a problem and 4x4 is working fine and I can ignore the light?
So how should I change into 4x4 mode - do I just use the hub switches or the inside stick too?

to put it in 4wd you have to have both the lever inside in 4wd and the switches on both hubs in 4wd,

normally its all controlled from the lever as the hubs are vaccum operated, but these are renound for failing and leaving you in a sticky situation, thats why people fit manual hubs as you can physically select the hub to be engaged and then you select 4wd inside to engage the drive in the transfer box

If your a regular offroader most seem to leave manual hubs in 4x4 and just use the lever.

I personally couldnt handle staring at a flashing light everytime I use 4wd.

I think the main reason vacum hubs fail is the pipes perish, your pipes could be split and leaking anywhere along their length. I think its probably best to block them at the vacum tank in the wing.

it will keep flashing because you have manual hubs just take the bulb out
