Dave that leaf blower type "turbocharger" is useless. Its like buying that "chip" that increase 15% horsepower of a N/A engine..
My car is used basically on-road and OFF Road in the weekends..most of my trips are to the Desert. Sometimes the sand elevations have 200 - 400 meters of uphill in 30° -45° angle so i basically need more power.
I dont have problems in little dunes and regular sand ups and downs the big dunes are the problem.

Small block sounds like the answer to me
mind you bet that sand dont half bog you down must sap all of the power have you thought about diffrent transfer box maybe allow the engine to rev a bit easier but still keep it moving foward

No denying UK offroad is about torque but turbo power does work in desert and loose dirt
Turbo Jimny
I believe this one is powered by a Saab engine but looks the part and certainly goes well.
Can't beat the whine or whistle of forced induction!

Sounds a beast.
its all well and good going for alot more power but all the other components on the jim jam like drive shafts prop shafts cv joints etx are designed for 1.3 power so are likely to fail from being over stressed due to more bhp and torque.
