The kingpin bearings are too and bottom of the swivel hub the wheel bearing is same place as on every other car, what's the symptoms? If its grease on back of the swivel hub it'll be kingpins it is bearing noise it'll be wheel bearings

When checking mine I shook the top of the front wheel back and forth hard and could feel the clunk of movement as well as hear it knocking. Also I had the visual of the oil weeping from the back of the knuckle housing- for quite some time too. I got SWOM to do the shake in case I was being heavy handed and she could see and feel it. It seems to me that wheel bearing problems will be mainly noise of a grinding sound or a feel of roughness. Plus which, Jimnys are famous for going through king pin bearings (it ain't the king pins themselves, they are made of substantial steel in contrast to the majority of the car's construction).

Best way to tell which is shot is watch or put your hand where the brake disk goes through the caliper when you "wiggle" the wheel. If there's movement between the disk and pads it's the wheel bearing, if the disk and caliper move together it's the king pins.
Cheers,
John
