Been told today by garage doing crankshaft pulley that cat has a split in the pipe at one end. This was founf during safety check. They are saying that gen Suzi one is £450 and they are unsure about non gen as when fitting non gen cats to Toyotas they can throw up engine management lights. Just wondering what guys in the know think as I am going to try garage i bought car from to replace it as it was MOTd 2 days before I picked it up and I have only done about 200 miles since buying. Dont think they will stump up so need to know if I can go cheaper.
I've never had an issue with a pattern cat. A high-flow performance cat can give problems if there isn't enough back pressure for the EGR system to work effectively but on a Suzuki there is usually enough manifold vacuum so it isn't a problem.
Yeah, been on there not long ago but 2 or 3 kinds and not sure which is best. If garage pays not a prob, if I have to pay then I will definitely be buying off there.
Good to know you can weld them but the dealer I bought Jimny from has agreed to replace cat with gen Suzuki item as well as crankshaft pulley so can't complain at that. Only bad point is I won't get the Jimny back till next week
My exhaust split just infront of the cat. I would normally have gone for one of the £70 ebay ones but as the car was still under dealer warranty I bought a slightly more expensive (but still non-genuine) one from euro car parts.
At about £105 I expected it to come with a heatshield, but it didn't, and retro-fitting the suzuki heat shield wouldn't have been easy. It hasn't caused any management issues though.
