Jimny Boot Rust! was created by Fyffe
I have a couple of spots in the boot where the jack goes where its rusted through. i haven't had much experiences with blagging cars through so was looking for a second opinion.
I was just thinking about using the old chemical metal and chicken wire approach once painted over you guys reckon that will pass through an MOT?
Im fairly confident it will but a second opinion never hurts!
Thanks in advance guys!

Its non structural so won't fail.
Its a known Jimny fault... and if you go out to buy a 2013 model, wait 5-6 years and that will rust too because the design hasn't changed since 1998

Old ones especially rust behind the headlights... which i don't know, but assume that may mean a fail due to impact/crumple zones etc. Older examples also suffer from brake line rust, and also vacuum pipes fro the free wheeling hubs.
The whole boot floor is prone to the old tin worm especially around the rear seat belt mounts... which again will result in a failure, unless the belts and seats are removed i guess
Several areas of the chassis will appear scabby, but this tends to be surface rust only.
Although i have seen one chassis in specific that was fairly shot!

Don't forget the later ones are zinc coated so it might help preserve them a bit longer??
Just a thought but has anyone considered the effect of the rear silencer on causing rust??
i.e. condensation being caused by the constant heating up and cooling down???
