Dashboard door light stays dimly lit for a while was created by VAXXi
I've got a strange problem with my Jim. Sometimes, after opening and closing a door, the dashboard indicator light for "open door" stays dimly lit (like a bulb receving half of the nominal voltage). In a few minutes it turns off if I keep all doors closed. This only happens randomly, it's not constant.
Has anyone had this happen ? any ideas for the cause ? I'll start checking the electrical plans and post here if something turns out.

I've managed to identify two grounds for the instrument cluster, one next to the center console and the other around the ashtray.
AFAIK, the door switches are 1-wire only, they ground to the body ... have to check that as well. Keep you posted.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

The door switches connect to the beeper module for when the keeys are in or the lights are on, have a look at that too.

Well, to close an old topic - finally had the time to dismantle the interior and investigate.
On my LHD Jimny (not sure about RHD), the driver's footwell has a thick bunch of wires running next to the edge of the door. The dumbasses who installed the alarm for the previous owner tapped into these wires to get the alarm's wiring done, but didn't solder/insulate properly the wires.
The driver "door open" warning wasn't working for a long time - no wonder why, about 5 cm of the metal was corroded inside the plastic sheath
it simply turned to dust when I burned the wire with my lighter. The rear door wire was starting to go the same way (therefore the intermitent/faint dash light). Cut all wires, patched them with short bits of wire to replace the corroded sections, soldered properly and used heatshrink all the way. All is good now, all 3 "door open" warnings work - including the headlight/door open buzzer which most of BigJimny members hate
