Transfer whine...... Help required.... was created by Jimny - aus
I recently bought a 2009 jimny, stock as a rock, bought and fitted a 80mm lift, 3" extended brake lines and 215,75,15 muddies, after going for a few light 4x4 days I noticed the transfer had a horrible whine and it was fairly constant from about 40kmh and got louder under brakeing . After stripping the transfer and finding a cracked sincro - at the end if the main drive shaft - and replacing it went. The noise went away for about 2 months and since 4x4ing again the dreaded whine is back. Not to mention the 4x4 has been abit inconsistent to select since buying it. I'm stumped on what to look for, should I replace it or is it something common amongst jimny's.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Check the bearings fo the t-case and the t-case mounts.

It should be one of the above your problems.

Yeah, that would be the best bet.

After the swap you don't need to be worried about the t-box whining no more, because it comes as a standard feature with those!

   I'm hoping to get a replacement box and build one with a reduction gear set.... I think manual hubs are a must I'm sick of my transfer trying to eat itself all the time... Plus I do a lot of highway K's so something quite would be great....
