Very poor mileage, need some suggestions was created by FIRSTJIMNY
The mileage on my '01 Jimny has decreased drastically in the last few months. I'm getting between 175 and 215 kilometers per tankful. I am about to change the coil and if necessary after that the lambda sonde sensor. These are the two things that showed to be a problem on the diagnostic test.

If anyone else has had a similar problem I would appreciate hearing what you have to do fix the problem, and yes, I have checked for fuel leaks. I am running 215/75/15 tires and recently put in a t-case with 4.16 gears but mileage had gone away before the t-case installation.

Thanks.

A faulty oxygen (lambda) sensor, the one at the manifold before the catalyst, will cause high fuel consumption.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

I have changed the coil and the motor immediately started running better. still going through the first tank of gas so don't know yet if it has improved.
My tires are Fedima Frontieroso 215/75/15s.

The results from the tests showed the coil and lambda sonde to be the problems. The service also toldl me that unless we replace the lambda with a factory part that chances are good that it still will not operate correctly. Has anybody tried the aftermarker lambda's?
