As a Defender has same track and body width front and rear I'm having a hard time understanding how rear extended arches in any way should be wider than front ones.

Yeah okay. The rear ones are longer. But Dave needs them to be around 50-60mm wider than the Defender extended ones. That's quite a lot 
Perhaps some Jeep Wrangler ones could do.
