Thanks for the info. OK, stupid question coming up...

...how do the brackets help with the fact the shocks are fatter?

It will lift the shock up higher and away from the axle, if you don't fit them it will hit the spring cup on top of the axle.

I see what you mean, thanks. Looks like this "straight swap" of shocks is fast becoming not very straight!

OK, so JimnyBits have come back to me after trying a standard RC shock on a standard Jimny. He has confirmed that the bushes are very tight, and that the size of the shock leaves almost no room for any movement (unless I was to use the brackets as suggested earlier in this thread). As a result he is not recommending the RC shocks as I just want a straight swap out.

They have very kindly offered me a full set (front and back) of TrailMaster shocks at cost price instead, so I will fit these and let you know the outcome.

I will say that the customer service from JB has been excellent :)

Have fitted rear TM shocks (standard length). They are fatter than the standard factory shocks but I have driven about 50 miles and there is no signs of rubbing or fouling. The car does feel different but that probably expected as the old ones were knackered! Now need to find time to fit the fronts.

Some photos, not the best angles, will take some better ones if anybody wants them.
