I had the same problem with a jimny I bought a while ago. It had a auto diff fitted at some point. I jacked one side and marked the wheels. Turning one 21 times turned the other 22. Swapped the axle problem was solved.

I think from martins link the later diffs are differnet so you need an early diff putting in it.
