Does anybody have this issue as it really bugs me and wonder if I could modify the box some how.

In 2nd gear coming up to near enough stop try and put in 1st so that don't stop momentum can't actually do it till completely stopped.

I have the same problem, and i think most users of this forum are the same,

i think its just one of the issues you have to live with.

It sounds like the synchromesh on 2nd gear has gone, and 1st is some time hard to get in when the car is moving on most jimnys.

why do you think 2nd synchromesh has gone?

iv had 4 jimnys now and none of them have sliped into 1st while still moving it may not have a synchromesh on first gear my old mini didnt and that never wnent into first while moving

think you may have read the top post wrong hes going from 2nd to 1st while still moving not going from 1st to 2nd

Mine goes from 2nd to first whilst still moving (<10mph) with no trouble at all.
