No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationGuys, I am looking at making myself a light bar over the next couple of weeks and have been looking at different light options, does anyone know the difference between a driving light and fog lights? My guess would be that driving lights throw light a longer distance and a fog light spreads the light to the sides more???

I have found the below Ring fog lights on ebay, they are a great size and wound mean I can make the whole bar and lights sit below the level of the roof bars!! However I am wondering if they will throw out enough light and if a driving light is a better option.

If my understanding is correct and these will not give me that much distance my next option is to go for the larger style ring lights that are offered in a driving and fog light, fit the driving lights in the center and the fog lights at the side giving me the best of both worlds :-)

Fog lights give less depth and more spread. IMHO you want driving lights.

Some old school off roaders i was with at a night drive claimed fogs were better for the spread rather than distance. Maybe a combination of both? Fogs on the outside driving in the middle?

Thanks, just as I thought then.

Mark I had seen them previously, they were out of stock last time I looked. They look like great lights but I am looking at being a bit of a cheapskate with this and at £36 plus vat it works out at £78 for 2 sets. Whereas the Ring lights are just £20 a pair on ebay. I may hold tight for a bit as first thing I want to get myself a hi-lift jack and recovery straps etc incase I find myself stuck at any point.

I personaly heard bad things about the Ring range... From screws rusting to water getting it lamps

I am open to another opinoin about them but i am not convinced

I have been looking for a set of lights for the darker winter days and these ones from x-eng look perfect thats if they live up to what they claim
