Odd idling. was created by grumpy22
Took the jimbo for its weekly outing yesterday, did about 30 miles. Car started and ran perfectly for first 5 or so then the idle speed at junctions started to creep up from 800 to 1000 and towards my destination around 1800. When I arrived I let the car idle for a while and the speed gradually over about a minute dropped back to 800 alternating between 1400 and 800 on the way down. On the return journey everything was fine and the idle speed normal
Any thoughts? Or is this a sign of something on its last legs? Want it right before winter sets in coz that's what we bought it for

Mine did the same, idling fine and then lumpy for a bit then fine again, after a bit of looking around the engine bay i noticed a small split in the vacuum hose coming from the engine to the hub solenoids. A bike puncture repair patch later and all is well.

If the ECU is unable to get temperature reading from the engine, it might cause those symptoms. So the coolant temp sensor might be bad. But can be a vacuum leak too, or something else...
