I knocked the kingpin bearing races out using a socket. Its was an impact socket, can't remember the size but I dropped it in then used the socked extensions bar and wacked the race out :)

You may have problems getting the nut off the ball joint, use a wire brush on the thread as this is where the nut can get stuck and start turning the tapered bolt.

if it starts turning put a trolly jack under the track rod end under the joint and jack it up that should stop it turning
