From what i have been told , heard from quite a few people and experienced first hand is this is not the case with the 2003 02 soft tops
They were machined wrong in the first place and rather than replace suzuki saw fit to fit shims , these didnt last long and resulted in death wobble
Easily cured by new shims but suzuki would never admit as this would mean a recall .
I did it on our old 02 and they only lasted a few thousand miles .. got fed up and traded it in

Ah: made in Spain! (Mine is Japanese built)

If they don't least long it sounds as though there is too much preload, and the shims needed to be between the flange and the hub (= 4 holes).

Best to split the steering knuckle, remove the big dust seal, and see how free the hubs are, Landrovers need a pull of about 3lb at the steering arm hole to keep them moving, I'd aim for this as a maximum.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

The 3lbs pull force max also works for me.

I have the death wobble even using the standard rim/wheel size and even after I replaced the kingpin bearings. The solution for me was the shim kit (not the Cu washers) from BigJimny shop and set my preload to 1kgf. I have been using my Jimny for a month now without problem. Thanks to BigJimny!
