Replace front antiroll bar drop link

Looks really easy to change so just checking.

2007 car standard so nothing special.

Jack car support with stands and remove front wheel.

Nothing stopping the stud on the link turning and nothing in the end to key into.

Therefore grind off both nuts but be very careful on the top one as there is a brake hose saying "cut me".

Put the wheel back on and lower car to get into no stress position for the anti roll bar.

Remove old link and replace with new link.

The new one takes a 30 size key inside the end of the stud to allow you to tighten the nylock nut.

Any comments from anyone who has been there.

Replaced both a couple of weeks ago.

The original ones could be locked in place with a spanner behind the ARB to allow the nut to be removed, but the new ones needed a hex key in the centre (not as easy to do up).

Apart from that, they came off and went a on a treat.

Did them both with the car jacked up on the relevant side with axle stands under.

As Jimnyash says, easy job, and it should change with the wheel jacked up.
I wouldn't grind the whole nut off, it takes ages, cut the side of the nut to split it and twist/chisel off.

Whenever you do any grinding, watch where the sparks go, they melt into paint/glass/plastic/rubber, and go rusty (as well as damaging your eyes)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

good pair of mole grips on the back and a good quality socket/spanner so you dont round the nuts off and once it starts moving dont stop cos as you remove it it creates heat by its self and gets easier as you go if you stop it can lock the nut on and make it harder to remove

Just changing mine ready for the NCT(MOT). The holes in the axle bracket and on the ARB seem slightly larger than the new drop link stud. I thought they might be worn but they look perfectly round. Surely any difference in size between drop link stud and receiver hole isn't great. Did anyone else find that or is it correct?

Cheers
Mike
