Tyres .... was created by ooky_123
Right, things are progressing nicely but I need to tap into the welth of knowledge on here.
Sunday was good but, to go really offroad, we are thinking of getting full blown MT tyres instead of the At's currently fitted to the new wheels.
The new wheels and tyres we fitted last week have not affected the speedo so that is a plus point, it is still legal.
The wheels are 6J x 15 and these are currently shod with 215x15 tyres.
We have seen a few tyres with nice chunky 18mm treads, but there are concerns.
1. we dont really want to go cutting the arches and bumpers to accomodate superwide tyres.
2. we have a 2" lift kit comming soon so that should help somewhat.
What is the general consensus on the maximum tyre width we can fit and still drive the vehicle ? could we get a 235x15 under the arches should we think about spacers ?
What are peoples oppinions on Insa Turbo's or Kingpin Amazon Remoulds ?

Just found this little gem
www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html
if I can get 235x75x15's under the wheel arches with just a 2" lift then these seem the ideal replacment for the 215x85x15's on the new rims. this would only equate to a 1.2% difference.

Just bear in mind the issue of the different Offset your Daihatsu wheels have as although other people with the 2 inch lift and the same size tyres may not have clearance issues, the different offset you have might mean you do have clearance issues!
I run mud terrain 215/15's and have enough clearance under my diffs and radius arms and you would be suprised at the difference the extra tread on a Mud Terrain compared to an All Terrain and the extra ground clearance it provides.
With respect to Insa Turbos, these are good quality tyres and the Special Tracks are superb. Our friends run them and the extra grip they offer in that tread pattern is noticable. They don't come in a 215/15 though so you'd have to go for the 205/16's and get 16 inch wheels. The Saharas will no doubt be of the same good quality and can be got in a 215/80/15 but not in the competition spec they do of it(what the difference is I don't know).
They do the 235/75/15 in all tread patterns but the offset will be the possible problem for clearance and you'll not know if it is a problem unless you buy them and try them. You could ask a good tyre supplier if they will sqeeze onto the standard Suzuki steels you bought off ebay and use them perhaps?
As far as the Kingpins are concerned, I believe that Kingpin was a rename of Colway and that they are no longer available and the online suppliers of them I have seen have not had them in stock, but they still advertise them. Calling one of them would clarify this, but I don't think they are as good as the Insa Turbos.
Those are my thoughts anyway.
