You've removed the seatbelt pre-tensioners that pull the seatbelt tight and therefore you backin your seat. These are needed to ensure youare in the right place when the airbag goes off.
If you were not in the right place when the air bag goes off and it catches you under the chin, the fact it comes out at 200mph means it can snap and break your neck and you can die from that.
Now there is a problem with the airbag circuit, the airbag will be disabled as it doesn't know you are held back permanently by your harnesses.
This is an issue at MOT time now and I'm not sure how you'll get around this.
The MOT tester can see from the database that your car should have an airbag and the new MOT rules say it should be there are working.
This has buggered up alot of things for us petrolheads!!!

i thought this doesnt come in to the mot untill november?
just refit the front belt reals plug the wire in when it is moted thay should test the harness as long as the clip on the seat has been removed

Cheers kirkynut and marky looks like the only solution is to put front belt reals back in and rewire but i havnt got the original belt click as i had one on the harnesses, and i have to get the new belts mot tested ? Always a hassle modifing things aint it

What year is your Jimny? I wonder if this seatbelt pretensioner system is fitted to older pre 2001 cars?

November or now, the problem remains. Bolting back in and reconnecting the seat belt plugs would solve it. Undo the battery before reconnecting though.
