From a layman here, is there an option of retro fitting a pair of sprockets between the 2 that are chain driven and binning the chain? To overcome the the chain and the dwindling 410 boxes.

Not without remodelling the case as the is no room for a counter shaft.

The later electric versions have an extra shaft position if I remember correctly?
