Powerful Jimny Engine Swaps was created by samclmnt
Hi Guys

Im looking at buying a jimny with a view to race it off road. However the jimny doesnt have the most powerful of engines.

I've looked on the web and i cant find any "Big" engine swaps, although im sure some has tried.

I'm looking for any ideas of engines that would be adequate to swap in. Im not concerned about changing mounts, and the the gearbox will almost certaintly come with the engine. I currently have a Range Rover Classic Hyrbid v8 thing, but im not competitive due to lack of power and weight.

So im thinking along the lines of light weight and high power, maybe a 4 cylinder, would prefer a turbocharged engine, or even a compact v6, again turbo charged is an option.

Also I'am aware i will have to modify other things to :) . Who is the best for internal roll cages in the UK (northwest) ?
As a newbie i know i have not contributed to your forum yet, and my knowledge of jimny's is poor at the moment, but i will try my best to help you guys out.

Thanks in advance

Sam

For what you want to do I'd say Rob Butler at Off Road Armoury is your best bet.

He has built a few Zuk's for speed events now.

There are a few around with the M18A engine. At least 1 on Auszookers with a turbo. I realise you said it doesn't matter, but the swap is practically 'plug n play' (the engine. I presume the turbo may take a minute or two ;) )

The issue you will have is the physical size of the engine itself. The chassis is quite narrow.

There's the orange one in some youtube clips that i think is a 2.9 ford v6

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

The M18 swap is going to give you a lot of trouble.

A person i know has done this swap and every 2 months he changes the rear r&p.

He races in enduro and rally raids.

The best is an M16 engine. Is almost plug and play. From liana non vvt or vvt depends

from the jimny engine you have.
