Car beeping when drivers door open?

2001 JIMNY

1) UNLOCK DRIVERS DOOR

2) OPEN DRIVERS DOOR

****CONSTANT BEEPING STARTS****

3) KEY IN IGNITION AND TURN SO IGNITION ON - ***BEEPING STOPS***



Basically is this normal?!?!?!?!

Mine does it but the key has to be in the ignition. If the key is taken out, it stops.

As Keith says it's either the broken beep of the keys in ignition reminder or it's the continuous lights on reminder that keeps going even if the keys are out of the ignition.

If it does it outside these circumstances and the car starts and all else is fine, lights are off etc, it must have gone wrong. I think the noise box for it is in the driver's footwell near the fuses and might just be unpluggable to shut it up! Cam Suzuki might be able to sell a good second hand replacement.

Are the lights on?

It beeps with the drivers door open if the keys are in or the lights are on.

I'm going to have a play with lights on / off etc tomorrow as its in my mates garage at moment.....

There is an easy fix for this. Pull down the panel below the steering wheel, and pull the plug apart that only has a single wire going to it.
