Retro Fitting an autobox on a '99 manual jimmy was created by jimnydms
Hi does anyone know if you can retro fit an autobox to a 99' manual jimmy is it a simple bolt off bolt on job or are there electrics involved, is the auto any better or the any worse for off roading?

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

They are electronically controlled, so you need more wiring harness and the controller, as well as the flywheel from the auto and the gear shifter. Easier to get an auto car rather than convert yours.

Rhinoray is the man in the know from the UK Zuk specialists but I agree it would be easier and more sensible to buy an auto and swap everything across if your Jimjam is modded. Then sell your now standard manual. If yours is not modded, just sell yours and buy an auto!

That depends on what sort of offroading and how much you want to modify your truck and what size tyres you plan to fit.
If you are keeping it basic with smallish tyres, go auto but if you will get big tyres go manual and have a rocklobster transfer box to sort out the ratios.
