Hi Everyone!

I'm new so be nice :-)

Bought my first Jimny, its a 2001 model & been lifted 3" and has pro comp es3000 shocks and 235x75 tyres already fitted by last owner.

Anyway, the Jimny seemed to go into all the gears fine (didn't know about the 4x4 light at this time) and on the way home the speedo was fine. but when we stopped & set off again the speedo went a bit mad and stopped on 50mph?

Also we found that 4x4 was not engaging either (muddy field test)

There is a plug on the transfer? case and it is taped up with a lot of electrical tape.....is this the speedo drive / sensor for 4x4?

Where do I start ?

Thanks,
Andy

there are to sensors on the transfer box speedo and 4 wheel drive but a common fault for the 4x4 not working is the small pipes on the front axle thay run down the drivers side front trailing arm there a few on there check them for splits but you may as well replace all of them for peace of mind as for the speedo i dont no but id take the tape off and have a look

The other thing you could do if your 4 wheel drive is not engaging is put manual locking front hubs on it so you know you've selected 4x4 as you did it manually! Apparently the vacuum hubs not working properly is quite a common fault.

I thought when the 4x4 wasnt working then you get a "flashing 4x4 light". I have no light at all?

I did read about locking hubs and using ones off of a vitara or SJ? And using the adapter plates available in the BIGJIMNY shop.....?
Is it as easy as bolt on and off.

As for the speedo, will have to examine the wires/plug further next weekend i guess

Yeah, sorry must of missed the bit about no light at all, mine was flashing and the previous owner had locked the standard hubs, but as I use it everyday I wanted free wheeling hubs so I got some superwinch ones and using the big jimny kit bolted them straight on. (well after just opening up the holes slightly with a drill)

Not so sure what It means to have no light at all though sorry.
