Oil in the brake drum.

haven't managed to remove the drain plug yet, but it's ok as had to un-stick the handbrake adjustment which had seized solid so that was fun! also didn't want to drain the oil until i've got some more to put in. ;)

just jack up one side and suport on a stand and the oil shouldnt run out as its flows to the other side of the axle iv dont this job meny times changing seals and bearings and iv never drained the oil yet just toped it up once finnished

I might of stumbled across this already! As not much oil came out. Long shot but o have a spare half shaft seal any chance their the same? (i haven't taken it apart yet so not sure how much of a silly question that is)
