Hot start issues - dieing battery

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Clean up all the earths, and the battery connections, as said already.
It could just be a dodgy starter motor.
I'm sure someone had this problem on here before, but I can't remember what caused it, try a few forum searches.
EDIT www.bigjimny.com/index.php/forum/7-jimny...uki-jimny-1997#33115
Doesn't look like he fixed it though.
One other thing springs to mind:
When it does it again, try turning the engine over by hand to see if it is partially seized.
If they don't get regular oil & filter changes the cam seizes in the head.

Cheers Facade.
I even posted on that guys thread, totally forgot about it!
Gut feeling is a dodgy sensor that plays up once hot, but it doesn't seem to tie-in to the lazy turning over.
I'll give it a good look over at the weekend and see if I can see anything obvious.
Just to note the car is running fine other than this. I can't tell if its conking out or if its me stalling that triggers the problem. First time I was offroad and a tiny bit stuck so could have easily stalled, 2nd I was just trying to reverse into a parking space and could have easily stalled.

The bit that worries me is you have a lazy starter, with a jump battery and no other change it spins fast.
This would tend to rule out poor connection/dodgy earths. The extra battery provides more current, to overcome a partially seized starter or engine. (or make up for a dead battery or an abnormal electrical load [ one big enough to stop the starter would be burning a wire up somewhere though])
But it is fine when cool, points more at a partial seizure from heat to me. A few people have seized a cam, the engine performance is down a lot and then it eventually grinds to a halt. Could be overheating generally but the gauge would show above normal.
I've not heard of a battery getting a poor connection inside when warm, but repairing itself when cold.

You are probably right, I'd be very suprised if it was the cam as the car is well looked after, but starter motor is quite probable.
Cheap things first though!
