engine cut out and wont start again was created by CraigW
urgent help needed i was away off roading at the weekend and i drove around on the afternoon when i got back with no problems what so ever. then when i when out the next day the car did about 3 mile and died no warning it just stopped and now i wont start up again.
the jimny will run on easy start but wont run by itself i have gone through all the plugs and checked there ok it feels like it is not getting any fuel.
also now when i switch the ignition on the engine management light and the car with the pad lock does not show, is this a ecu problem or can any one help with any other ideas
and forgot to mention it is a 2001 reg M13A engine

Sounds like a blown fuse.

hi, the ignition key has a chip inside it that works the immobilizer it could prevent the engine from starting if you have a spare key try it

if its a key problem then you should get a flashing immo light.

It could be the crank sensor, there will be no spark activated or the fuel pump relay won't power up if there's no crank sensor signal.

I would be looking at the crank position sensor too as it would likely run, albeit badly or there would be an immobiliser light on.
Ideally you want the codes read.
