Installing winch was created by TomDK
Yesterday I installed my new TDS 9.5 winch.
It's installed on a 6mm plate just in front of the radiator, which means that the front bumper has been removed.
But now I've come to think, are the front chassis rails strong enough for winching? I can see that they are welded to the chassis just right behind the mounting points for the body. Do I need to reinforce these rails where my winch is mounted?

Yes most likely, how is the 6mm plate attached to the chassis? take a look at the link "07/09/08 - Winch mounting in standard bumper " in the popular links at the bottom of this page, though I don't think I'd cut the crush boxes off.
I used a bit of 6 mm plate on the LHS Chassis leg which is open as standard.
