i did what you said about the spring spacers to raise mine, im put them all on in the garage went to drive out and it didnt happen 
had to take them all out again lol, so iv only got the 2" lift still.

That's how mine mounts, round the back, as they say.
Keeps it out of the way from being damaged as well.
